New in SOLIDWORKS PCB 2018
SOLIDWORKS PCB 2018
Released: 18 October 2017 - Build: 169
This new SOLIDWORKS PCB release continues to deliver new features as well as enhancements to the software's core technologies.
New Database LinkThe Database Link file defines linkage between the schematic component and a matched record in a database. The Database Link file is added to your design project, or library package, allowing you to link from components already placed on schematic sheets or, more typically, defined components in a source schematic library, respectively. |
Parameter ManagementWith the introduction of New Database Link files, SOLIDWORKS PCB 2018 also introduces Parameter Management options. These new parameter management tools allow designers to connect to any ODBC database, to include the Parametric data from these database libraries within SOLDIWORKS PCB schematic documents, and to create part parameters. Database fields can also be mapped to design parameters. |
Symbol WizardThe new Symbol Wizard allows designers to create symbols for desired components. The Symbol Wizard dialog gives designers control over the basic configuration for the symbol and its pin data, as well as a dynamic preview area which reflects the current settings and pin data. |
IPC Compliant Footprint ToolsThe IPC Footprint Wizard and IPC Footprint Batch Wizard commands (Tools | Footprint) are used to help designers generate PCB footprints that are compliant with Revision B of the IPC standard 7351 - Generic Requirements for Surface Mount Design and Land Pattern Standard. Rather than working directly from footprint dimensions, the IPC Footprint Wizards uses dimensional information from the component itself, and then calculates suitable pad and other footprint properties in accordance with the algorithms released by the IPC. |
CST ExportSOLIDWORKS PCB now supports CST integration. Files can be configured and exported for use in CST simulations. |
New Parts ProvidersThe new part providers facilitate the linking of your design components to real-world parts, enabling you to have access to live supplier data at your fingertips, as you design. |
